Email storage
capacity is a big issue for Gmail users, nowadays. Gmail allows its users only
to store a limited amount of data which might appear insufficient to you. You
can use Google Drive to store more data otherwise Gmail Support is available to guide you. Luckily, there are some
simple tips that you can use to allow more storage on your account.
Start by deleting heavy files: Some
mails with heavy attachments occupy large space in your storage. To find them,
go to the search box and click on the ‘Has Attachment’ link. All the mails with
attachments will be appeared on your screen. Delete them or convert them to the
native Google Drive format.
Set Default Receiving Setting to Plain
Text: HTML mails do not occupy much space, but still, if you are expecting
100s of mails every day, then set your next mail to plain text as it will free
up some space from your storage. Make it your default feature to receive next
HTML mails as plain texts.
Delete Extremely Old Messages: You can
also free up some space by deleting old messages. Go to the search box and type
‘older-than:2y’. You will now see all the mails older than 2 years. Move them
to trash and empty the trash box to free up some space for new mails.
Use Search Option To Search Specifically: The
search option provides facilities to search your desired mails specifically,
like larger than:, older than:. Use it to grab the unwanted mails and delete
them.
Download Attachments On Your Desktop: If
the attachments are heavy and you can’t delete them as they are important,
download them on your desktop and now you can delete the mails.
If the storage
limit exceeds, you will no longer be able to receive/send emails. Use these
hacks to free-up your Gmail storage. For more tips and better options, you
